Our ethically made journey stands at the core of what O My Bag is about. Our founder, Paulien envisioned a brand that would connect artisans in small communities to the global market and create fair job opportunities. We work with our partners to provide training programs around skills building and gender equality. We also invest in the local communities by giving back through different social projects in the surrounding areas of Kolkata, India. Our purpose is to make a positive difference in the world. A living wage can have a positive influence on the decisions workers make about health, food, family, safety, and their future, and for those reasons we believe that as a company we are obligated to work towards providing a living wage for all workers.
O My Bag believes in trade, not aid. By producing in Kolkata, India, we connect producers in small communities to the global market. The more orders we place at our producers, the more fair jobs they can create. This policy connects the success of our brand directly to the positive impact we make in India. But what are fair jobs exactly and how can we - as a brand that doesn’t own any factories - ensure those?
When we select manufacturing partners, we make sure that effective policies are in place to protect human rights, prevent discrimination and sexual harassment. We also make sure that the environment is not harmed in the process. You can download our Code of Conduct below.
